Hui Jing has been an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore since 2021. She acts in corporate and commercial disputes, insolvency, employment, and construction and real estate disputes, in court and in arbitration.

A substantial part of her practice is for clients in or connected to China. She has family and long-standing personal connections there, works regularly with lawyers and business owners in the market, and travels there to understand how those clients actually operate rather than assuming it maps onto Singapore practice. She takes instructions and conducts meetings in Mandarin, and a good share of her work comes by referral from Chinese counsel.

Her clients are mostly individuals, owner-managed businesses, financial advisers, and lawyers in China with a Singapore problem. She works on the basis that a client should be able to ask a question without first working out what it will cost them to ask. Most of her larger matters started as a small one, and the relationship is what brought the rest.

Chen’s Joan and John Carreyrou’s Bad Blood, the latter of which she says is either relaxation or professional development depending on the week.
