Liwen has been an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore since 2021. Her practice is in matrimonial law, civil and commercial litigation, and criminal defence.
She acts almost entirely for individuals. That means her clients are usually living through the matter rather than managing it from a distance, and are often dealing with a court for the first time in their lives. A good deal of the work is explaining what is about to happen to someone who is frightened of it, and doing that well matters as much to the outcome as anything filed.
Liwen works in English and Mandarin at native level. In family and criminal matters, where a client’s account of events is the case, it makes a real difference that they can give it in the language they think in rather than the one they are translating into.
